Denton County Update

Constable Truitt has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and Politics from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management from Sam Houston State University. He holds a Master Peace Officers Certification, a Police Instructors Certification, Civil Process Proficiency Certification, and Court Security Specialist Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Constable Truitt is also a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas’s (LEMIT) Leadership Command College and the Texas Constables Leadership College.
Constable Truitt is considered an expert in civil process, writs, executions, evictions and court security. He has been on faculty for the Texas Justice Court Training Center since 2007, LEMIT since 2009, Denton Police Academy since 2014, Plano/Richardson Police Academy since 2020, Frisco Police Academy since 2025 and has been an Adjunct Professor at Tarleton State University since the Fall of 2020. He served two three-year appointments as a member of the Constable Education Committee and served as the Chair of the Committee for six years. In addition, he served eight years as the liaison between JPCA and LEMIT concerning Constable Education for Texas Constables.
